A banner across the top point has "HONORARY" engraved and painted blue.
Slightly above middle is another banner with "DEPUTY SHERIFF" engraved and painted blue.
A banner at the bottom of the star has "ALLEGHENY CO." engraved and painted blue.
The center of the star has the Pennsylvania state coat of arms with text around the coat of arms "COMMONWEALTH OF/ / PENNSYLVANIA".

Across the star, printed in black, is "Sheriff".
Bottom left corner has "JOHN M. McNAMARA / CHIEF DEPUTY" printed in black.
Bottom right corner has "355-4700 / 355-4719 / PITTSBURGH, PA." printed in black.
On the back of the card is what appears to be a red stamp that states "JOHN M. McNAMARA / Chief Deputy Sheriff / 111 Court House / Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219".

Historical NotesPart of a collection belonging to Bernie Burns. The collection documents Firefighters Local No. 1, the firefighting union of which Bernie Burns was the president; his life as a firefighter; and additional items that document growing up in Lawrenceville in the 1960s and 1970s.
