Historical NotesThe wholesale liquor business operated in downtown Pittsburgh from about 1872 until 1897 or later. The square-shaped mold-blown bottles were probably designed to fit neatly in packing crates. This bottle is marked on the bottom with the letter “H” enclosed within a triangle, the symbol for J. T. & A. Hamilton glass bottle factory, located at 26th and Railroad streets in Pittsburgh’s Strip District.Label TextThese two clear glass bottles are labeled S. Klinordlinger Rye Whiskey. Sidney Klinordlinger was an old name in the Pittsburgh wholesale liquor industry, first appearing in the business directories in 1872 and was listed under different variations of the name until 1915. The business was located downtown at 966-968 Liberty Avenue from 1894
