Historical NotesFirefighter's helmet belonged to Father Francis E. Rieke (October 29, 1906 - January 23, 1985) who served as Police and Fire Chaplain for the Pittsburgh Police and Fireman from 1943 to 1950. While Fire Chaplain, Father Rieke served at St. Mary's of Mercy Parish in downtown Pittsburgh. Father Rieke served as Police and Fire Chaplain at the Wabash Terminal fire in 1946 and the Island Queen fire of 1947.Label TextOwned and worn by Father Francis E. Rieke who served as Police and Fire Chaplain for the Pittsburgh Police and Firemen from 1943 to 1950. While Fire Chaplain, Father Rieke also served at St. Mary’s of Mercy Parish downtown.
