Historical NotesServant call chimes used in the home of Pressly T. Craig of Sewickley, Pennsylvania [home sold c. 1935]. Craig was president of Craig Oil Company in Pittsburgh. The chimes were located on a table in a hallway. Donor Patricia S. Grubb's mother had the chimes "reconditioned," which explains the sticker label on the back of the chimes. Originally, a red silk cord tied the chimes together (as opposed to the current white cord) and the mallet was a wooden stick with a parchment-covered ball in the end. The current handle is a replacement.
