DescriptionFramed Civic Light Opera Golden Hall of Fame commemorative medal. Circular medal with raised text and decoration describing the award; unknown if reverse side of medal is decorated. Medal hangs on a white fabric ribbon with gold stripes. Rectangular gold-tone metal award plate mounted below medal. Medal and plate are mounted on black velvet, surrounded by beveled red fabric mat, within a gold painted wood shadowbox frame with glass glazing. Backer attached with two brass screws and is covered in red velvet. Frame-stand prop on reverse. Reverse has hanging bar at top center.Dimensions14.5 x 9.438 x 2 in. Historical NotesFramed Civic Light Opera Golden Hall of Fame commemorative medal awarded to Edgar J. Kaufmann. Part of a collection of artifacts that document the downtown location of Kaufmann’s (became Macy’s) department store. This large collection of items was field gathered from the downtown location of Macy’s (formerly Kaufmann’s) after the store’s final closing was announced in the fall of 2015.
