Donor Beverly Scott Harrington believes that it could have been painted by an itinerant painter, possibly as a rental payment. Part of a collection that documents Mr. Remley's business, social, and fraternal activities. Married twice with several children, John Britton Remley was at one time involved in the shoe industry and was also a grocer. In addition to his businesses, he was a member of the Tancred Commandery No. 48, which was a Pittsburgh Knights Templar branch, and the Young Men's Republican Club of Pittsburgh.
