Historical NotesPortrait of Joan B. James c. 1970s, the wife of family physician Dr. Edward James. Dr. Edward James was medical director and founder of Coraopolis Health Center. Dr. James practiced family medicine in Coraopolis from 1958 to 2010, and operated the Health Center from 1984 to 2010. His wife, Joan James was the first African American teacher at Sewickley Academy (1978) and was a former Pittsburgh City School District teacher.
