DescriptionCommemorative ribbon with presentation box.
Commemorative ribbon. Medal with four connected pieces with goldenrod yellow ribbon behind. Top piece of medal is bronze, and features an eagle, with wings outstretched, sitting atop two crossed cannons and a pile of cannonballs. The eagle holds a sword in its talons. The second piece is brass, with red, white, and blue enamel inlay. The main image on the piece is that of a waving American flag, beneath which are three letters, which are red, white, and blue. At the bottom of the piece is a blue enameled banner with text. Behind "GAR" can be seen the leaves of two branches. The third piece is made of aluminum, and is in the shape of the facade of the Ohio State Capitol Building. Beneath the image of the Capitol is another image of men in an open field, below which is a banner with place name and year. The reverse of this piece has text. The fourth and bottommost piece is bronze. It is circular, with a bas relief portrait of William Tecumseh Sherman at the center. Around the edge is person's name. The reverse of this piece has commemorative event information. An olive branch forms a border on the left, and a laurel branch on the right.

Inscriptions(a)
The second piece of metal has text "G", "A", "R", which is red, white, and blue, respectively. At the bottom of the piece is a blue enameled banner that reads "REPRESENTATIVE".
The third piece of metal has a banner that reads "COLUMBUS, O 1919". The reverse of this piece reads "LINCOLN-ADAMS VICTORY".
The fourth and bottommost piece of metal has text around the edge, "GENERAL WILLIAM / TECVMSEH SHERMAN" [sic]. The reverse of this piece reads "53RD / NATIONAL / ENCAMPMENT / GAR / SEPT. 7-13, 1919 / COLVMBVS, OHIO" [sic].
