DescriptionOne-piece brown variegated silk dress lined with brown cotton. Mostly hand-stitched. Opening in front with nine buttons. Bodice: black passementerie braid; V-pattern on front and back, and below cap and hem of bishop sleeve; black whale bone stays. Skirt gathered with gauging to bodice; front opening to left of front.Dimensions4.5 x 1.875 x 0.375 in. (11.4 x 4.8 x 1 cm)Historical NotesThis dress was worn by donor Lida Stell's grandmother Margaret Dunham when she married her second husband Jacob Haney around 1870. The couple moved to Braddock from the South Side because Haney was a puddler in the mill.
