Historical NotesSuit made by Joseph S. Tatko for his daughter Kathryn c.1958. Born in New Brighton, PA, Tatko returned with his mother to her native Czechoslovakia as a 9 mo. old infant. He learned the tailoring trade in Czechoslovakia before returning to Western PA in 1936 (in order to avoid military service in the Czech. army.) He began working as a tailor at Kaufmann's c. 1940 and worked there until 1964 when his position was eliminated. He then worked at Hughes & Hatcher's and also Brooks Brothers before illness forced him to retire.
