Historical NotesBaseball jersey worn by Andrew McCutchen during the 2011 Pittsburgh Pirates season. The Pirates used their first pick in the 2005 Amateur Draft to secure the dynamic five tool talent of centerfielder Andrew McCutchen, who had just finished his senior year in high school with a .709 batting average. Fans packed PNC Park during the 2011 season when McCutchen led the team to a first place standing in mid- July, and secured his first all-star selection.Label TextThe Pirates first-round pick in the 2005 MLB Draft, outfielder Andrew McCutchen made his MLB debut in 2009. During the 2011 season, McCutchen led the team to a first place standing in mid-July and secured his first All-Star selection. Again, an All-Star in 2012, McCutchen finished second in National League batting average at .327 and first in hits with 194. In 2013, he led the Pirates to their first winning season and post-season berth since 1992, passed the 100-career stolen base and home run marks, and was named the NL’s Most Valuable Player. Traded to the Giants in 2018, McCutchen returned to Pittsburgh in 2023. The five-time All Star, four-time Silver Slugger, and Golden Glove awardee (2012), hit his 300th home run on April 14, 2024.
