Historical NotesDonated by Regis V. Fiore. Bocce court rules sign originally used by the Italian American Instructive Club in Clairton, PA. The rules sign was posted on the grounds and established the rules for bocce play. The Italian American Instructive Club was founded in 1931 in order to assist Italian immigrants in learning the English language. Located at 310 Waddell Avenue in Clairton, the club was a center of Italian American community life and served as place for immigrants and their descendants to enjoy Italian American leisure practices, namely bocce.
