DescriptionRectangular mahogany piano. Heavy plain round tapered legs, brass casters. Hinge cover over keyboard - keyboard has five octaves. Keyboard recess veneered with yellow mahogany, inlay below keyboard. Rectangular reverse painted glass tag centered above keyboard, silver with gold detailing; central panel of gold music sheet with score in black, maker's name printed above and below in gold, white and gold rectangular framing. Anna Vodges Macbeth was the daughter of George Macbeth of Macbeth Evans Glass Co.Label TextPlaying the pianoforte indicated refinement and education in a young lady. Charles Rosenbaum advertised in The Mercury in June 1814 that he had "lately established himself as a pianoforte maker in this town," evidence that such luxury items were in demand.
