Historical NotesAnti-Vietnam war banner from the early 1970s. The banner was made by brothers David Hughes and Dan Hughes, both active in the anti-war movement in Pittsburgh in the 1960s and 1970s. David became active in the movement during his freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh in 1964/1965. The banner was used in several demonstrations to protest the war and this "Stop The War" banner was in the Pittsburgh Press when they dropped it while the National Anthem was being sung at the Pittsburgh Pirates' opening day April 18, 1972, at Three Rivers Stadium.
