DescriptionLocket notepad with pencil.
Locket notepad. Rectangular gold miniature notepad with rounded bottom corners. Front and back covers have overall embossed decoration and reverse center has engraved monogram in diamond shape. Front has hinged cover that flips upward when pencil is removed from its sheath on the proper left side. Pencil sheath is in two parts, with one part attached to the front and back covers. Top edge has integral ring with ring through it. Interior contains paper notepad with numerous pages missing; top page has handwritten graphite text; subsequent pages are blank; notepad has blue paperboard backer.
Graphite mechanical pencil. Gold cylindrical body with graphite lead. Other end has integral ring with ring through it; this end turns to move lead forward toward tip. Top of pencil has engraved text "14K".
Historical NotesLocket that belonged to a member of the Lehman family. The Lehman family is descended from the Anathan family and Frank family, one of the first Jewish families to settle permanently in Pittsburgh. The Anathan, Frank, and Lehman families were philanthropists and founders of Jewish communal institutions and have contributed to the development of Pittsburgh businesses and industries.
