Historical NotesTrunk used by Michael Korenic to immigrate from Ogulin, Croatia sometime between 1900 and 1905. Michael Korenic settled in the North Side and worked in the Heppenstall mill in Lawrenceville. His wife, Anna Brsic Korenic followed a few years later. The couple had six sons: Stephen (born in Croatia c. 1902 or 1903), Joseph (1906), Matthew (donor's father, 1910), Michael (1912), Robert (1916), and Louis (1918). Michael, Sr. lost his hand in a mill accident and could no longer work in the mill, he became the maintenance man at the newly opened amusement park, called West View Park. The family moved to West View after he obtained this job and settled at 57 Hempstead Avenue. Michael retired around 1955 from being manager of the Penny Arcade. The boys attended West View High School and were celebrated athletes.
