Historical NotesThis Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) trunk belonged to the donor's uncle Frank Constant of Universal, Pennsylvania. Constant belonged to Company 382 from about 1933 to 1936. Pennsylvania had the largest amount of CCC camps of any state, largely due to Governor Pinchot’s organization. The markings on his trunk and some scanned photographs show that he was stationed for a time at Bear Lake/Thornhurst which was state forest land in Lackawanna County. He also spent time in Mount Union in Mifflin County at Camp Rupert Snow, East Licking Creek, and Bear Lake.
