DescriptionThree metal medals attached to a metal chain, including a sterling silver 1925 medal, gold filled 1930 medal, and sterling silver 1945 medal. Sterling silver medal from 1925 is a shield shape and has an eagle with its wings spread at the top. Directly beneath the eagle and along the left and right sides of the shield is raised text, and the very bottom of the shield is the raised outline of a smaller shield with stars and stripes. Center of shield has a raised soccer ball in the middle, and it is ringed on the left and right sides with leafy branches and raised text. There's engraved text on the back; manufacturing information at the bottom with a logo. Logo is an eagle's head over two shields with the letters "D" and "C". Gold filled medal from 1930 is a shield shape and has an eagle with its wings spread at the top. Directly beneath the eagle and along the left and right sides of the shield is raised text, and the very bottom of the shield is the raised outline of a smaller shield with stars and stripes. Center of shield has a raised soccer ball in the middle, and it is ringed on the left and right sides with leafy branches and raised text. Name faintly scratched onto back of medal. Sterling silver medal from 1945 is a shield shape and has an eagle with its wings spread at the top. Center of medal is a raised soccer ball with a blue border around it with text. Left and right sides of the border are leafy branches, and bottom of medal has two scrolls on the left and right with a shield in the middle. Shield is stars and stripes with red, white, and blue applied decoration. Back of medal has engraved text. Chain made up of a series of thin, oval-shaped pieces of metal that are connected by circular links; three pieces near the top of the chain are connected with two pieces of wire that have been twisted and then cut off. One end of the chain has a key clip that the three medals are attached to; third medal is attached to a second key clip hanging off the first one. Historical NotesThis chain with three Gallatin Soccer Club medals belonged to James Demcheck. Gallatin Soccer Club was founded in the early 1900s and competed in the Western Pennsylvania Football Association against other teams in the area. They also competed on a national level in the National Amateur Cup and the U.S. Open Cup, which they won in 1942.
