The Joseph Horne Company was a regional department store chain founded in 1849 and was later merged with Federated Department Stores in 1994. James Demcheck was an employee of the Joseph Horne Company as a personnel department employee who managed training and provided orientation to new employees, likely during the late 1960s and 1970s. According to the donor, Demcheck helped to open the Beaver Valley Mall and North Hills locations of the store.
