DescriptionBlack and chrome microphone with triangular black and white plastic microphone flag. Microphone is black with wide head that connects to narrow, cylindrical handle with black and silver chrome sections. Triangular mic flag has same applied news station label on each side which is black with white border and station name at center; mic flag is removable. Bottom of handle has smooth black rubber electrical cord that terminates in silver metal port plug. DimensionsHeight x Width x Depth (Microphone only): 9.625 x 4.313 x 3.75 in. (24.4 x 11 x 9.5 cm)

InscriptionsEach side of the microphone flag has white text "KQV / NEWSRADIO".

Base of handle has engraved text along the bottom edge of the chrome section "[symbol]3F / SWITCHCRAFT / U.S. PAT. 3219961 / CAN. PAT. ..."

Base of handle has raised text surrounding cord opening "SWITCHCRAFT".

Historical NotesFrank Gottlieb was a journalist who worked for many Western Pennsylvania media outlets, particularly radio. Gottlieb was born in Midland, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Duquesne University in 1968 with a degree in print journalism. This KQV microphone was used by Frank Gottlieb when he worked for the radio station. He joined the newsroom of KQV in 1985 and served as its news director from 1993 until his retirement. After returning from Vietnam, Gottlieb worked in various capacities for radio and television stations in Western Pennsylvania and Central Ohio, including WAMO-FM, WTAE-TV, KDKA-TV, and Pittsburgh CBS Local as well as WCMH-TV in Columbus, Ohio. He worked on the “Brother Love” program on WAMO and was an early employee at the interactive news station QUBE in Columbus, Ohio.
