Bottom has a textured foot and domed punt. Two seams along sides and two seams around the bottom. Raised text, including makers mark, and bumps around the heel. One side of bottle features red and white retailer sticker label with image in the middle. Image shows two men holding wine bottles with a vineyard in the background. Historical NotesThese wine bottles were collected from the Heinz History Center public program “In Vino Veritas: A Smithsonian Conversation on Wine,” offered in conjunction with the American Spirits: the Rise and Fall of Prohibition exhibit. As a part of the event, local wine making families brought in homemade wine for the public to sample. All of the grapes and grape juice used to make the wines were purchased from Consumers Fresh Produce, a wholesale produce company in the Strip District. The labels are representative of the creative license taken by home winemakers to design labels similar to commercial wines.
