Historical NotesPittsburgh Spirit soccer ball. The Pittsburgh Spirit were an indoor soccer league of the Major Indoor Soccer League established in late 1978 also partially owned by Edward DeBartolo, Sr. They played their home games at the Civic Arena. In 1986, Spirit dissolved due to a loss of money and attendance. DeBartolo had ownership in the Civic Arena as well.
