Historical NotesHandkerchief sent from France during World War I by donor Harry C. Golby's uncle Wayne Knight to Wayne's parents, Charles and Elizabeth Knight, in Dubois, Pennsylvania. Wayne Knight was the son of Charles and Elizabeth Knight. A German family, Charles worked as a blacksmith in Dubois where he owned his own shop. The eldest of many children, Wayne fought in WWI; his own son, Paul, would follow in his stead and fight as a Marine in WWII. Donor Harry C. Goldby is the nephew of Wayne and grandson of Charles and Elizabeth.
