DescriptionGold toned metal pin with gold-tone detailing and text on the front. Front of pin depicts a white frog is walking upright while wearing a green tuxedo, a black bowtie, and green top hat. Frog is holding a walking cane in its proper right hand. Two pinbacks on back, secured by two butterfly clasps. InscriptionsText along the proper left side of the pin reads: "The / FROG [ printed with one letter on each line]". Text on bottom of the front reads: "PITTSBURGH PA.".
Historical NotesFROGS Club lapel pin.Label TextThe FROGS, an acronym that stands for Friendly Rivalry Often Generates Success, was formed in 1910 as a younger affiliate group of the Loendi Club. This African American male social organization hosts an annual ball that attracts members and visitors from across the country. Members often housed out-of-town guests in their homes or found accommodations for them by using the Green Book.
