DescriptionPolice uniform lapel pin. Silver metal lapel pin in the shape of the Allegheny County Seal. Front has central shield with, from top to bottom, blue, yellow, and green enameled sections; blue section has ship, yellow section has plough, and green section has three sheaves of wheat. To the viewer's left of the shield is a cornstalk and to the viewer's right is an olive branch. Above the shield is an eagle with one star under each outstretched wing. Historical NotesAllegheny County Police patrolman's uniform lapel pin. Part of a collection that documents the Allegheny County Police. Formed in 1932, the County Police provide policing for the International and Allegheny airports, county property such as North Park and South Park, as well as assisting local police forces when needed. They have a mounted unit, detective division, as well as homicide and narcotics units.
