Historical NotesFort Pitt Brewing Company salt and pepper shakers. Shakers are shaped like beer bottles with brown glass and a steel bottle cap. Fort Pitt Brewing Company operated from 1906 to 1957 with plants in both Sharpsburg and Jeannette, Pennsylvania. At one time it was the best selling beer in the Pittsburgh region and rivaled Iron City and Rolling Rock in its ability to brew beer with a one million-barrel brewer. After it closed its Jeannette site, Jones Brewing Company bought the rights to the Fort Pitt brand and still obtains the original recipe, although they let the patent expire in the late 1990s.
