Historical NotesFreeport Chamber of Commerce centennial token commemorating 100 years of the founding of Freeport borough, although a community existed in that area much earlier. The celebration lasted 7 days and consisted of parades, religious services, carnivals, and other celebratory contests on the Allegheny river. Massey Harbison, who was famously captured by American Indians in the late 1790s, lived in a cabin near present day Freeport.
