DescriptionCommemorative coin with grey plastic case. Commemorative coin made of an alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc; appears a light gold color and contained inside a plastic protective case. The obverse of the coin features an image of Nikola Tesla surrounded by a Slavic language text providing his name and birth and death places and dates. The reverse of the coin features an image of a double headed eagle and a shield. It has text embossed in same language, the date of minting above the eagle emblem, and value below the eagle (20 new dinars). Grey plastic case which contains coin in a red velvet-like pad. Has the same double headed eagle printed on the cover in silver as is on the reverse of the coin. Attached to the reverse of the grey case is a sticker with black printed text providing source information.Dimensionsa) Height: 0.25" / Diameter: 1.375"

Inscriptions(a)
The obverse of the coin features an image of Nikola Tesla surrounded by a Slavic language text (English translation: "Nikola Tesla - Smiljan 1856 - New York 1943").

The reverse has text embossed in a Slavic language, the date of minting "1996" above the eagle emblem, and "20" below the eagle, representing the value of the coin (20 new dinars).

Attached to the reverse of the grey case is a sticker with black print reading: "From Marija & Velmir / November 29, 1996".
Historical NotesCommemorative coin, case, and multilingual descriptive note made in recognition of Nikola Tesla by the National Bank of Yugoslavia. Donor Leland Anderson is a writer and researcher who is the author of a number of published works on the electrical engineer and inventor Nikola Tesla. Tesla, who worked for Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company in 1888, was known for his work on the alternating current system, radio communication, and X-ray technology. Beginning in the 1940s and continuing over the next 50 years, Anderson compiled a large collection of research materials documenting the life and work of Tesla.
