InscriptionsFront is painted white and covered in handwritten inscriptions in brown, blue, and black ink. Examples of inscriptions include:
"I [heart] Pegasus / Forever - Eddie" in top left corner;
"Presious [sic] Memories @ Peg on Liberty" in top right corner;
"Argh. My chill spot every Sat. / Nooooo! Well Good run. / Come into my own here / Accepting my / sexuality." in bottom left corner; and
"you did alot for / me Love ya / -AC" in bottom right corner.
Historical NotesAutographed wall panel from the basement of the Pegasus Night Club Lounge signed by clientele before the bars closing. Opening on 818 Liberty Avenue in June of 1980 Pegasus Night Club closed its doors on December 6, 2009 and relocated to The Eagle bar on the North Side. Pegasus was owned by Scott Noxon at the times of its closing, he also owned The Eagle. Noxon, like many young queer people in Pittsburgh, had grown up going to Pegasus before he bought it in 2005. Pegasus was one of the first dance clubs catering to the queer community in Pittsburgh. Noxon’s decision to close at the downtown location was due in part to the cost of rent and less clientele due to a wider acceptance of queer people in society and the regions dwindling population and poor economy. Pegasus existed for a few more years at the Eagle location until Noxon closed both in 2012.
