DescriptionSwan platter mold. Square piece of varnished plywood with brown wax or plastic or rubber mold at center. Mold has swan-shaped carved out of center and inscribed tree branches around above the swan and water lines below the swan. The mold protrudes from the plywood surface on one side. Other side is covered in light brown wax or plastic or rubber.Dimensions15.875 x 16 x 0.875 in. (40.3 x 40.6 x 2.2 cm)
MarksHandwritten text in black on one side of the plywood in top left corner "DYNA-MASK / D012-01" and bottom right corner "1428".
Historical NotesA mold used by the L. E. Smith Glass Company of Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, to cast a platter with a central patterned swan. The swan mold represents the domestic goods and gift ware made by L.E. Smith probably in the 1980s and 1990s when they manufactured these colorless glass patterned platters with different central designs – often for holiday use.
