Historical NotesWhoopie cushion from The Mike Feinberg Company. Feinberg’s was a Strip District institution for over 60 years before its 2017 closing. The store specialized in party supplies, Pittsburgh sports themed gifts, and local souvenirs. Originally a toy store at 1736 Penn Avenue. He found it hard to compete with large toy store chains so expanding into party supplies, novelties and souvenirs as well. In 1980 both Feinberg’s and Randall’s were named in a suit by Myron Cope for producing unlicensed copies of the “Terrible Towel.” The WWII veteran grew up in the Hill District and was a salesman for the Minsky Brothers, one of the main toy and novelty distributors in Pittsburgh, before opening his own store.
