DescriptionStole. Narrow piece of fabric that curves in the center, to be worn around the neck. Front: teal green top section made to resemble a sweater, and is connected in the center by five plastic gray buttons. On the proper left side, there is a sewn image of Henrietta Pussycat above the pocket. On the proper right side, King Friday XIII and Queen Sara Saturday are embroidered and sewn above pocket. In lower section of proper right side, there is a traffic light. In the lower section of the front, there is a light green fabric background on both sides. On the proper right side, there are images of two children, a Neighborhood Trolley, three houses, a fish tank, a child next to a trolley track, a blue castle with red flags, and a dirt and flowers represented in the lower section. On the right side, there is a clock with Daniel Tiger, a house and a set of trolley tracks, two children, a red brick house, X the Owl's tree, three children, and a pair of blue Sperry's sneakers at the bottom. Historical NotesJoanne Rogers believes Fred Rogers may have used this stole when he occasionally preached at Sixth Presbyterian Church. It was made by his aunt, Alberta Rogers, around 1980.Label TextFred had a divinity degree from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, but he saw his television show as his ministry. This stole is a visible representation of his dual role as minister and television personality. Made by his aunt, Alberta Rogers, Joanne Rogers recalled that Fred used it when he occasionally preached at Sixth Presbyterian Church.
