Historical NotesThe equal rights pin with an equal sign could be from the National Urban League, which came up with a similar logo in the late 1960s in their fight for equality for African-Americans. Since that time, the equal symbol has become synonymous with LGBTQ equal rights initiatives and became the logo for the Human Rights Campaign starting in 1995.
