Historical NotesJohn Coleman Pittsburgh Alleghenies baseball card. Coleman played right field for the Pittsburgh Alleghenies. 1887 marks the first year the Alleghenies (soon to become the Pirates) play in the National League. The Old Judge set is the first nationally released major baseball card set, issued by Goodwin & Co. and inserted with Old Judge cigarettes.
