Historical NotesSpacelab-J Frog Embryology Experiment commemorative piece given to Jay Apt. Apt was the commander of the shift (the blue shift) on this two-shift per day mission on which the experiment was conducted by Dr. Jan Davis and Dr. Mae Jemison and this was a thank-you gift from the scientists researching this topic. The scientific team leader, NASA Ames Research Center’s Dr, Ken Souza, presented the crew with these mementos of the experiment that provided the first evidence that a vertebrate species can reproduce in the absence of gravity.
