Historical NotesThis dance card was used by the donor’s mother, Virginia DeGasperi Noceti, at her South Hills High School Senior Prom on January 28, 1944. Her date, Oresh Tammasino, a fellow senior, picked her up in a taxi as cars were scarce due to war rationing; she mentioned that many other couples took the streetcar. Thirty-six male classmates from her senior class and the class ahead had enlisted in the war. The prom was held in the Urban Room of the William Penn Hotel. As Prom Chairman, Virginia DeGasperi (donor’s maiden name) chose the venue and the band. Her brother played for several local bands and he played at her prom with Bill Grant who would go on to become a local television star.
