Proper left side has flat scale column and front of column has glass window with weight gauge inside with ounces and pounds demarcated.
The front of the column also has two circular county inspection stickers with text: the top one is orange and has text "COUNTY OF ALLEGHENY, PA. / JS / APPROVED / DEPT. OF LAW / BUREAU OF WEIGHTS & MEASURES" (there is a black county inspection sticker underneath the orange one); the lower one is blue and has text "BUREAU OF STANDARD / WM-10 / DO NOT DETACH / OR DEFACE / UNDER PENALTY / SEALED 3/18 1980 / VI/VCE / INSPECTOR / COMMONWEALTH OF / PENNSYLVANIA / DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE / WEIGHTS AND MEASURES".
Reverse of column has larger scale gauge behind a larger glass window with text along top "TOLEDO SCALE COMPANY, TOLEDO, OHIO, U. S. A."; below this is weight gauge with ounces and pounds demarcated above a section of "TWO CENT GRADUATIONS" and "ONE CENT GRADUATIONS".
Reverse of column also has a circular green county inspection sticker at bottom proper left with text that is difficult to decipher but includes "County of Allegheny".
Base of four-armed tray rest has inscribed text "REGULATE VIBRATION".

Proper left side has flat scale column; front of column has oblong maker's plate with text "TOLEDO / REG. U. S. PAT. OFF. / NO SPRINGS HONEST WEIGHT".
Proper right end of top of base has maker's plate with text "TOLEDO SCALE CO. / TOLEDO, OHIO / FACT. NO. 3090-0-SS16984 / MODEL NO. 405 / SERIAL NO. 7998 / CAP. 3 LB / VOLTS CYCLES AMPS. / PATENT NUMBERS WILL BE FURNISHED ON REQUEST / MADE IN U.S.A. / 30468".

This large collection of items was field gathered from the downtown location of Macy’s (formerly Kaufmann’s) after the store’s final closing was announced in the fall of 2015.
