The house was demolished in 1919, when the land was donated for a city park. The donor's mother, Agnes Silvia Simpson, was the daughter of George Westinghouse III and granddaughter of George Westinghouse II. From 1871 to 1883, George Westinghouse focused his energy in expanding his business to the European market such as England, France, Italy, Belgium, and Russia. Westinghouse's longest stay in Europe was from July 1876 to August 1879 around the time the sculpture was made.
