Framed label at bottom of commemorative “THIS LOG AND BRICK WERE RESURRECTED WHEN EXCAVATION WAS / STARTED FOR POINT PARK AND MUSEUM 200 YEARS AFTER FORT PITT / WAS BUILT IN 1759-60. THE LOG IS WHITE OAK AND WAS CUT ON THE / PREMISES. THE BRICK WAS MADE BY ITINERANT BRICK MAKERS. THE / BLOCK HOUSE WAS BUILT AT A LATER DATE IN 1764 BY COLONEL HENRY / BOUQUET, IS OWNED BY THE DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLU- / TION, AND IS OPEN TO VISITORS. THE POINT, WHERE THE ALLEGHENY / AND THE MONONGAHELA RIVERS MEET TO FORM THE OHIO RIVER, MARKS / THE BIRTHPLACE OF PITTSBURGH AND THE SPOT WHERE IT WAS DECIDED / WHETHER THE TRANSMOUNTANE AREA WOULD BE AN ENGLISH SPEAKING / OR FRENCH SPEAKING COUNTRY. / Presented to / WESTMORELAND-FAYETTE HISTORICAL SOCIETY 1967 / by / ARTHUR G.
