DescriptionOpera glasses with leather case. Opera glasses. Aluminum with enamel design of alternating strips of blue with gold leaf and white with pink flowers on body/frame. Mother of pearl around eyecup and focusing drive. Case for opera glasses. Red leather(?) with gold-colored stamped floral design along top and bottom of case, along case opening, and base of lid. Dual-arrow handle on top. Metal (brass?) button with green gem for securing lid shut.Dimensions3 x 1.75 x 4.5 in. (7.6 x 4.4 x 11.4 cm)

Label TextProduced around 1900, these two sets of opera glasses were intended for opera-goers who wanted a better view of the action on stage. Both are made of aluminum, with one having an intricate design carved into the metal itself and the other having an intricate enamel design on top of the metal.
