DescriptionRectangular, red, white, blue and gold metal pin. There is a red border around the edge of the pin. A thin gold border separate the red border from the white rectangle in the middle. The center of the pin has a blue star outlined in gold; the blue color has bled beyond the gold border. The back is gold metal. The clasp of the pin is attached to the back.Dimensions0.313 x 0.5 x 0.25 in. (0.8 x 1.3 x 0.6 cm)
Historical NotesThis was the last gift given by Harry Keltz to his mother. Harry A. Keltlz was born on February 4, 1889 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard in 1916 before being transferred into Federal Service. He served as a Private First Class in the 148th Machine Gun Battalion in 1917, then in the 102nd Machine Gun Battalion of the "Rainbow Division" in 1918. Harry died on July 22, 1918 from wounds received in action on the western front. Part of a collection that documents the Fisher, Keltz, and Kenyon families.
