Historical NotesPortrait of possibly donor Andrew L. Weil's ancestor Lea Weil. Lea and her busband Samuel were part of a prominent Pittsburgh family, the most famous being A. Leo Weil (1858-1938) and his wife Cassie, the donor's great-grandparents. A. Leo Weil was a prominent lawyer and civic leader in the city and his wife was instrumental in founding the Irene Kaufmann Settlement House. Samuel Weil was A. Leo Weil’s brother.
