Historical NotesPortrait of Norris McCombs. The McCombs estate seems to have been located in the present day area of Homewood. Norris McCombs was born on March 11, 1813 and died on April 24, 1887, he was a farmer and also established a hardware business in Pittsburgh and Iowa. He was a member of East Liberty Presbyterian Church. His wife Elizabeth Ferree McCombs was a descendant of Madame Ferree, a French Huguenot, who came to Philadelphia in 1688.
