DescriptionAluminum license plate. The front of the plate is red, white, and blue. The background color is white. Along the top edge is the state name in blue. Embossed below that printed word is candidate last name and year in large blue text. Below the embossed text is a printed red, ribbon-like symbol with the campaign slogan printed in white. There is a small inscription next to the printed ribbon. Four bolt holes are located on either side of printed state name on the top edge and on either side of the printed red ribbon-like symbol. The outer border of the plate flat, making the rest of the plate raised. The back of the plate is silver aluminum.Dimensions6 x 12 in. (15.2 x 30.5 cm)

Embossed below that printed word is "KNOLL 94".
Below the embossed letters and numbers is a printed red, ribbon-like symbol with the words "AMERICA STARTS HERE" printed in white.

Historical NotesAluminum license plate used to rally support for Catherine Baker Knoll, who ran for the Democratic nomination for Governor in 1994. She would later withdraw from this race. Later in life, Catherine Baker Knoll would become the first woman Leiutenant Governor from 2003 until her death in 2008. Part of a collection relating to the life and political career of Lieutenant Governor Catherine Baker Knoll. Born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, Catherine Baker Knoll worked in the family business, Knoll Hotel and Restaurant, developing her people skills and beginning her political activism. In 1970, she became a state committee woman for the Democratic Party, then rose through the ranks of the state's Department of Transportation Bureau of Motor Vehicles. She was tapped by the party in 1976, to run for State Treasurer, but did not get elected to office until 1988. She easily won a second term in 1992, by a landslide vote. In 2002, she was elected as the state's first female Lieutenant Governor.
