Donated by her son, Nicholas P. Veeder, Jr.Label TextVardi Marshall Veeder, heir to the Marshall Elevator Company fortune, wore this belted metallic thread gown to her debut season in 1933 at the Cinderella Charity Ball, a fundraiser for St. Margaret’s Memorial Hospital at the University Club. An image of her at the Cinderella Ball was featured in the paper, which stated, “Metallic fabrics were in vogue, lames, deeply crinkled fabrics of silver and gold and yellow gold and green gold for gowns…Vardi Marshall was in deep gold brocade.” The paper also noted her recent engagement.
