Historical NotesPropellor from Pennsylvania Airlines. Pennsylvania Airlines Company was in business from 1931-1948, at which point it became Capital Airlines, which later merged with United Airlines. Patent dates on the propeller are c. 1926. Pennsylvania Airlines used the Ford Tri-Motor aircraft in the early 1930s, and this propeller may have been the type fitted to this airplane. A variable-pitch propeller was developed by the Pittsburgh Steel Propeller Company, which was eventually absorbed by the Hamilton Standard Propellor Company. Hamilton Standard Propellor Company was a division of United Aircraft and Transport Corporation.
