Historical NotesPair of women's boots from James Cohen Company. James Cohen and his wife, Libbie, immigrated from Lida, Poland, in 1885. With fifteen dollars in his pocket, James started a shoe store in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The business moved from its uptown location to Fifth Avenue where they remained in business for 90 years. James and Libbie had ten children.
