DescriptionPainting on a rectangular canvas with uneven edges. Gessoed canvas "frames" the main painting, which is an impressionist harbor scene. The subject is split into three horizontal sections. The upper section is a blue/blue-gray/white depiction of a cloudy sky. The top of a tree line marks the transition to the center section, which depicts a docklands scene with single mast sailing vessels moored to piers. A large dark green/blue-green mastless bow is in the foreground of a smaller, light brown single mast vessl (which appears to be atop the pier). Three single mast vessels arc to the proper left of the image, with buildings on the piers in the background. The proper right center depicts figures in action on the pier. The lower section is blue-green/light blue-green water which reflects color and shape characteristics from the upper two-thirds of the image. The impasto technique was used lightly throughout the image.Dimensions21.3385 x 26.0236 in.
