Historical NotesJudge Thomas Mellon, Sr. was the founder of Mellon Bank. He married Sarah Negley August 22, 1843. He and Sarah had eight children and played a prominent role in Pittsburgh in the late 1800s. Donor Samuel A. McClung III is a descendent of the Mellon’s as well as the McClungs.
