(88.9 x 71.1 x 182.9 cm)Historical NotesThis quilting frame was made by Michael Whitecheck of Centerville, Pennsylvania for his wife Catherine Hubiz Whitecheck. She used this frame to make quilts for her family. The couple raised three daughters and one son. The frame was found in the home of Ann Whitecheck Crow, who was a daughter of Catherine and Michael. The donor does not remember his mother using the quilting frame, however he said that she and her sisters did quilt using the frame. Ann died in 1966 at the age of 82 and the donor placed the quilting frame in his home. Michael Whitecheck was from the Ukraine and worked in a coal mine when he came to Centerville PA. He bought a farm and raised dairy cattle working the farm using traditional methods using clydesdale horses to plow the fields. He retired to a smaller house on the farm and died in 1963. Catherine Hubiz Whitecheck was born in Poland and raised in Braizenille, Pennsylvania. She died at the age of 89.
